RESPONSIBILITY

Being responsible for our impact on the environment and society is one of the core tenets of DOT+ABOVE.

We think of impact in two ways. First, we try to reduce our negative impact by looking at how we can be more environmentally friendly and ensuring that we don’t support poor labour practices.

Secondly, in addition to making sure we work with businesses who pay good wages and provide good working conditions beyond what is required by the law, for each collection that DOT+ABOVE creates, we will find a way to create positive impact. This could be through donating to important causes, creating products and running projects in conjunction with registered charities or developing innovations we can share. We won’t have a fixed way of creating positive impact as we want to be able to take advantage of opportunities and respond in a way that suits the circumstances at the time. For our CBWY collection, we are donating 5% of the sales (both wholesale and retail) to one of 4 charities depending on the colour of the garment sold: Coral for the Coral Reef Alliance, Blue for the Blue Marine Foundation, Yellow for The World Bee Project and White for the Clean Air Task Force.

We promise the following:

  • We will be completely transparent with information on how our fabrics and components are made and the materials they are made from to the best of our knowledge.

  • We will only outsource to people and companies who pay fair wages, provide good working conditions, comply with labour laws and generally follow good labour practices.

  • Reuse our off-cuts and 

  • Recycle as much waste as is possible.

In addition, we believe a huge factor in the overconsumption prevalent in the fashion industry is the idea that discounting is necessary. We think this is wrong, especially as clothing is not a perishable item and that good design is timeless and that well-made clothing can be repaired and restored. If your item has been damaged, please get in touch with us. We run our own repair service if your item is in need of a little help. We promise to never put clothing on our website on discount and on the contrary – all of our designs are available to be remade on request.
